How to Merge Multiple Images into One (Free Online Tool)

Combine multiple images into one by stacking them vertically or side by side. Supports JPG, PNG and WebP β€” free, no signup.

Why Merge Multiple Images?

Combining images into one is a common need across many use cases:

  • Create a before/after comparison image
  • Combine product photos into a single catalogue image
  • Stitch screenshots into one long image for documentation
  • Combine charts or graphs into a single infographic
  • Create a photo collage for social media

Instead of paying for photo editing software, you can do this for free in your browser.

Vertical vs Horizontal Layout

Vertical stacking β€” images are placed one on top of another. The canvas width matches the widest image. Narrower images are centred. Best for:

  • Before/after comparisons
  • Step-by-step sequences
  • Long scrollable screenshots

Horizontal layout β€” images are placed side by side. The canvas height matches the tallest image. Shorter images are centred. Best for:

  • Side-by-side comparisons
  • Product colour variants
  • Multi-panel graphics

Choosing the Output Format

  • JPG β€” smallest file size, good for photos
  • PNG β€” larger files but lossless, preserves transparency
  • WebP β€” smallest file size with transparency support, best for web

If any of your source images have transparent backgrounds and you want to keep that transparency, choose PNG or WebP output.

Tips for Clean Results

  • Use images with similar dimensions for the best-looking results
  • Add a small gap (16–32px) between images for a cleaner look
  • Use a white or neutral background colour unless you want a coloured border between images
  • For social media, use the horizontal layout with two images for comparison posts

Frequently asked questions

What image formats can I merge?

JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF are all supported. You can mix different formats in one merge operation.

Is there a limit on how many images I can merge?

No. You can merge as many images as needed. For very large or high-resolution images, processing may take a few seconds.

Can I control the spacing between images?

Yes. Use the gap slider to add spacing in pixels between images. The gap is filled with your chosen background colour.

What output formats are available?

JPG, PNG or WebP. Choose PNG or WebP if you need to preserve transparency in the merged image.

Can I merge images with different sizes?

Yes. Images of different sizes are automatically centred within the canvas. The canvas width (for vertical) or height (for horizontal) matches the largest image.

Is there a file size limit per image?

Up to 100 MB per image. All processing happens in your browser.
